Bioimpedance
Multi-frequency Direct Segmental Bioimpedance DSM-BIA
Differentiates individual from population
The assessment of body composition serves to differentiate individual from population. The body mass index (BMI) is very good to assess the general population, separating into underweight, normal weight, overweight and obesity. However, an individual may have a normal BMI and an increased amount of fat (false lean) or an increased amount of muscle (false fat) that can be differentiated on the bioimpedance test.
Guidelines
The ideal is that the examination of bioimpedance is performed with a 2-hour fast, with an empty bladder to improve accuracy.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in pregnant women, children and patients with cardiac pacemakers
Body Composition Analysis
Body weight is the sum of different components:
Body Water, Protein, Minerals and Fat Mass.
It is essential to ensure a balanced body composition to maintain health.
Muscle-Fat Analysis
Compare the length of the bars referring to Muscle Mass
Skeletal and Fat Mass. The larger the Muscle Mass, compared to Fat Mass, the stronger the body will be.
Obesity Analysis
BMI is an index that determines obesity in the population, relating weight to height. the percentage of Fat is the relationship between the amount of Fat and the individual's body weight.
Segmental Lean Mass Analysis
Assesses the degree of muscle development in each segment and analyzes the values against the ideal weight.
Segmental Fat Mass Analysis
Evaluates if the amount of Body Fat of the different segments and compares with the reference values.
InBody Score
Total score that reflects body composition status. A very muscular person can score over a hundred points!
Weight Control
Informs about the recommended Weight, Muscle Mass and Fat Mass. The + and - signs indicate whether you should gain or lose mass, respectively.
Basal Metabolism
Minimum energy for the maintenance of homeostasis. The greater the amount of muscle mass, the greater the basal metabolism.
Visceral Fat Level
Estimate of the fat surrounding the organs of the abdominal cavity. Keep this value close to the limit lower is essential to ensure a healthy state.
Body Composition History
Graph showing the evolution of body composition over the various assessments.
